Vehicles drive on the right-hand side of the road in Kyrgyzstan. Overtaking is performed on the left.

⚡ Speed Limits

Urban areas: 60 km/h
Outside cities: 90 km/h
Major highways: 110 km/h

💡 Headlights

Using headlights during poor visibility is mandatory. Daytime running lights are recommended, especially on mountain roads.

🅿️ Parking in Cities

Most parking areas in Bishkek and other cities are free or low-cost. Always check local signs before leaving your vehicle.

🚫 No Parking Zones

Parking is prohibited near intersections, pedestrian crossings, bus stops, emergency access routes, and where road signs specifically forbid it.

⛰️ Mountain Roads

Mountain routes can be narrow and winding. Drive carefully, reduce speed, and use lower gears when descending steep roads.

⛽ Fuel Stations

Fuel stations are common around major cities. When travelling to remote regions such as Song-Kul or Tash Rabat, keep your fuel tank well filled.

📄 Required Documents

Always carry your driving licence, passport, rental agreement, and vehicle documents while driving.

Tip: If you plan to visit Issyk-Kul, Song-Kul, Karakol, or other mountain destinations, consider renting an SUV for greater comfort and safety.
